Little People of America

Don't forget to check the CALENDAR page regularly for upcoming event information!

This statement is taken from the LPAonline.org regarding the recent episode of The Apprentice:

On Sunday, April 5, NBC ran an episode of “Celebrity Apprentice” which reinforces stereotypes that LPA and thousands of individual people of short stature have campaigned diligently to change. LPA is working hard to make sure our concerns about the episode do not go unheard. Read LPA's Statement and Call to Action (includes addresses and phone numbers).

Little People of America (LPA) is the largest non-profit organization in the world designed to provide information, social interaction and support for people of short stature caused by one of more than 200 medical conditions broadly classified as dwarfism.

LPA currently consist of sixty-six local chapters across all fifty states, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico and these local chapters are divided into fourteen regional districts.  LPA is continuously growing with the addition of new chapters as they become necessary to accommodate growing membership needs.

Dalworth (Chapter 2) is the Dallas/Fort Worth based chapter of LPA, which provides membership to people no taller than 4 feet 10 inches, their families, and interested professionals who work with short stature individuals.  The Dalworth chapter is a member of district 8 along with four other chapters, which include Houston, New Orleans (Little Cajuns), San Antonio, and West Texas.

The Dalworth chapter is an active chapter with frequent meetings and social gatherings within the local area.  Gatherings include such events as pool parties, barbecues, picnics, gatherings at local restaurants, with activities included for both younger and older members alike.

As a member of LPA and the Dalworth chapter, you will receive regular newsletters from the Dalworth chapter and district 8 delivered by postal mail and/or in electronic form by e-mail.  Approximately four times a year, members will also receive the national magazine, LPA Today.  LPA Today is considered to be perhaps the largest tangible benefit of LPA membership.  This magazine includes articles and photos from national and regional events, information about national officers and LPA business, information about upcoming conventions, articles on dwarfism related medical issues, information about dwarfism related products and services, and information about LPA’s many committees, scholarships, and other programs.
